Foodie Friday: Farmers' Market Season Is Here

They used to say that when the crepe myrtle bloomed, it was watermelon season.

Well, the crepe myrtle are in full bloom and so are the area's farmers' markets.

No doubt you can find a sweet watermelon, juicy peach, corn on the cob or delicious tomatoes at one of these outdoor markets. But you can also find artisan bread, regional cheeses, handmade tamales and more. Plus there are sometimes entertainments like local bands, face-painting and kids' crafts, agriculture extension service experts and even knife sharpening services.

Here are a few to try on this holiday weekend:

Lilburn Farmers Market
Fridays, 4 - 8 p.m.
1400 Killian Hill Rd., Lilburn

Snellville Farmers Market
Saturdays, 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Snellville City Hall, 2342 Oak Road

Roswell Farmers and Artisans Market
Saturdays, 8 a.m. - noon
Roswell City Hall, 38 Hill Street
